Gross foreign productive investment, from which foreign securities holding entities or ETVE are discounted, has risen to 34,178.15 million euros in 2022. This has meant 13.9% more than the previous year (29,998, 75 million). According to the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, half of the gross investment of 2022 has been concentrated in the Community of Madrid (17,226 million), despite the fact that this has fallen by 21.6% compared to 2021.

After the Community of Madrid, the regions that have attracted the greatest investment have been the Basque Country (5,516 million, more than triple that of a year earlier) and Catalonia (3,884 million, 25.6% more). However, the largest year-on-year increases in investment have occurred in Navarra, Asturias and Murcia, while foreign investment in Cantabria and Extremadura has decreased significantly.

If we focus on the country of origin of the investors, a significant part have come from Luxembourg (11,773 million), Germany (5,072 million), the United Kingdom (4,966 million), the United States (2,887 million) and France (1,849 million). In net terms, once disinvestments have been discounted, foreign productive investment has been 23,892 million, 9.8% more.
