A forest is on fire in the Boyukcekmece neighborhood of Istanbul. As the flames move closer to nearby buildings, more firefighters are joining the fight against the blaze, the publication says.
It should be noted that the causes of the fire are still unclear.
Earlier, Istanbul Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu said it was time for residents to start saving water due to the threat of drought. He stressed that in the near future, according to the forecasts of meteorologists, no rain should be expected. In his opinion, the threat of drought hung over the city and the entire country.
In mid-August, the media wrote that Istanbul could lose fresh water in the next two months if the drought continues.
According to the authorities, the occupancy level of the tanks that supply fresh water to Istanbul amounted to 33.37%, or more than 289 million cubic meters, compared to 62% in August last year. At the same time, recently the average daily consumption amounted to 3-3.5 million cubic meters.
