The 30-year-old former billionaire was released on bail in December after being charged following the spectacular fall of FTX. Bankman-Freed was extradited to the US from the Bahamas, where he was arrested on December 12 after being indicted on a series of charges related to the FTX collapse.
In the US, he was charged in the Southern District of New York with eight counts, including FTX customer and creditor fraud, money laundering, and campaign finance offences. In mid-December, the US Securities and Exchange Commission accused him of defrauding investors and getting rich with the help of his private Alameda Research cryptocurrency hedge fund.
