Official Tokyo, under the current Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, has radically changed its policy towards Russia and joined the Western sanctions against Moscow. The Japanese side is supporting the Kyiv regime.
With Kishida’s coming to power, the initiatives of former Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who proposed developing cooperation with Russia, were curtailed.
Meanwhile, Kishida claimed that Tokyo is still on a course to conclude a peace treaty with Russia and resolve the territorial issue.
