“Former head of state Alejandro Toledo arrived in the country on board a commercial flight to serve an 18-month preventive prison,” reported RPP. The Supreme Court of Justice of Peru notifies that Toledo will be taken to this center to verify his identity.
Toledo was Peru’s boss from 2001 to 2006. He is suspected of accepting $20 million in bribes to push through legislation to change bidding rules. It is reported that it was thanks to the help of Toledo that the construction company Odebrecht was able to obtain some expensive contracts.
