On September 5, at the age of 58, Laurent Tirard, French director, screenwriter and actor, passed away in Paris. Tirard has been nominated twice for the César Award, the national equivalent of the Oscar.
According to the artist’s representative, the cause of death was a chronic illness, the nature of which was not specified. It is known that in 2012 the director was diagnosed with cancer and underwent a bone marrow transplant, which led to complications in the lungs, liver and intestines. The severity of his illness was not reported until 2020.
Tirard was born in 1967. Since childhood, he has been interested in cinema, especially Steven Spielberg’s films. He studied film production in New York. He interned at Warner Bros. Upon his return to France, he worked as a film critic for six years. He made his directorial debut in 1999 with a short film.
