Half Chinese, half Irish, Simon Rocha weaves his native national stories into his collections. In the fall-winter 2023 season, he talks about the Irish harvest festival Lughnasadh. The show opened with images of crumpled gold fabric, the texture of which resembled ears of wheat. The silhouette is recognizable: voluminous sleeves and puffy skirts. The collection also includes various raffia dresses, floor-length models in black and white lace, hoop skirts, petticoats and nude bodysuits. Things are decorated with red ribbons, a reference to the harvest festival, crystals on the chest, embroidered bows and scarves woven with pearls. There are also masculine looks: suit jackets and work jackets with voluminous satin sleeves, lace-up bomber jackets and black chiffon trench coats.
