The president of Iberdrola, Ignacio Sánchez Galán, obtained a total remuneration of 13.06 million euros in 2022, according to the annual report on remuneration published this Friday in the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV). Sánchez Galán received a salary of 6.35 million, 1.26% more than the previous year; Of that amount, 2.25 million corresponded to his salary, 3.25 million to variable remuneration and 567,000 euros to remuneration as chairman of the board of directors.
To all this we must add the 92,000 euros in allowances that he received and 186,000 euros for other items, the only item that grew. Iberdrola’s board of directors received as a whole in 2022 a remuneration of 22.52 million, 1.05% more.
A record year of benefits
During this year, the electricity company chaired by Ignacio Sánchez Galán recorded a record net profit of 4,399 million euros, which translates into an increase of 12% compared to the previous year, thus beating its own forecasts, despite noting that was hampered in Spain by regulatory and tax measures.
As notified by the company to the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV), the gross operating result (Ebitda) grew by 10%, to 13,228 million euros, with the United States and Brazil offsetting the negative evolution of Spain, where it fell 19%, and the slowdown in Mexico. “The results in Spain fell by 19%, hampered by regulatory and tax measures and the increase in costs that the company has not passed on to customers,” the company has remarked in its annual accounts.
