gap inc filed a lawsuit against rapper and businessman Kanye West. The company accuses him of damaging property and demands compensation of $2 million. Hypebae writes about it.
Gap stated that the artist “made unauthorized alterations to a Los Angeles rental property that the owner is trying to repossess.” The property in question is currently owned by Art City Center and has been leased to Gap.
The damage to the venue, according to Gap, was caused by the rapper (the company is now trying to recover damages from him). He redecorated the lot, added an exterior ramp and tunnel, built a wall, and removed three toilets and overhead lights.
All of West’s actions “were done without Gap’s involvement or approval,” thereby “violating the strategic agreement both directly and indirectly, causing Gap to incur expenses for facility repair and restoration.”
The litigation began after the company ended its cooperation with Yeezy Gap, which ended due to the hip-hop artist’s ambiguous behavior (in particular, his anti-Semitic statements).
Earlier, Kanye West decided not to leave the production of shoes and after the break with adidas. The American hip-hop artist has filed documents for the registration of a new trademark: Yeezy Sock Shoes.
