Gazprombank asked its clients not to make transfers in US currency because at the end of January two large US banks will stop servicing their correspondent accounts in dollars, the credit institution reported.

“Due to the unilateral decisions of US financial institutions, Gazprombank’s USD correspondent accounts with JPMorgan Chase Bank and Bank of New York Mellon will be terminated. In this regard, we ask customers not to use Gazprombank for cross-border transfers in US dollars from January 27 inclusive,” the bank said.

At the same time, it is noted that Gazprombank will continue to service deposits and accounts in dollars, all obligations to clients, both individuals and legal entities, are fully fulfilled: clients have continuous access to funds and services, and cross-border settlements can be made in other currencies.

As a source from the bank previously explained to TASS, this event does not actually affect Gazprombank’s business in any way, its status does not change, since the decision of American banks is not new sanctions or a disconnection from SWIFT.
