The department said the accident occurred at kilometer 37 of the highway. A Toyota Corolla passenger car and a UAZ (the so-called “bread”) collided.
Four people died at the scene. Four other victims were taken to Pokrovsk hospital.
As noted by the Ministry of Emergency Situations, a person was trapped under a pile of metal, rescuers had to use special equipment to remove the injured person from the vehicle.
The prosecutor’s office has already launched an investigation. Investigators are trying to determine who is to blame for the collision between two vehicles. Compliance with traffic rules will be evaluated.
