German investigation believes Ukraine is behind Nord Stream KXan explosions 36 Daily News

Germany’s Federal Criminal Investigation Office is looking for evidence that could point to Ukraine’s involvement in the Nord Stream gas pipeline bombings last September, according to a new report. Investigators then drew attention to the Andromeda yacht, chartered by a Polish company in the northern German port of Rostock a few weeks before the explosions occurred.

The Andromeda is believed to have docked in the port of Christianso, a small Danish island northeast of Bornholm, very close to the site of the bombings. This happened just before the sabotage. Traces of “military grade, suitable for underwater use” explosives were found on the yacht.

According to investigators, five men and one woman arrived in Germany with fake Bulgarian and Romanian passports. They then used the yacht as a base for divers trained to place bombs at a depth of about 70 meters.

According to the German newspaper Süddeutsche Zeitung, German investigators say that the help of state security services was required to carry out the attack. They also claim to have found evidence that could point to Ukrainian involvement. The trail supposedly leads to a fictitious company, a travel agency set up by two Ukrainians in Warsaw.

The report also says German authorities singled out two other Ukrainians, from nearby kyiv and Odessa, as other members of the yacht’s crew. One of them, a 26-year-old man, allegedly previously served in the Ukrainian army.

Security analysts wonder if such a complex operation could have been carried out by a small team on a small yacht without a submarine.

Recall that the sabotage at the Nord Stream pipelines occurred on September 26, 2022. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the department does not expect any special results or transparency from the investigation. “It will end with something like ‘Very Liked’,” said the minister.
