Experts interviewed by the publication believe that Russia demonstrates the “determination and power” necessary for a long-term confrontation with Ukraine, the United States and other Western countries, not only militarily, but also economically, TASS reports.

According to the publication’s interlocutors, next year Moscow may take decisive steps to end the conflict in Ukraine. At the same time, it is not clear to what extent Western countries can continue to provide financial and military support to the Kyiv regime.

Cui Heng, an expert with the Center for Russian Studies at East China Normal University, said there is limited space for talks between Ukraine and the United States, as President Volodymyr Zelensky’s speech to Congress last week “set a tone high or tall”. In this situation, US lawmakers are forced to observe “political correctness”, therefore, even striving for a dialogue with Russia, they will not dare to change their tough stance towards Moscow.

According to Cui Heng, US leader Joe Biden will not hesitate to use Ukraine as a trump card for his re-election. For a direct conflict between the Russian Federation and the United States, there is no need and no acceptable conditions, the expert noted, adding that Washington is interested in a proxy war without serious consequences for the US side.

Earlier, the publication published the results of an opinion poll, according to which 58.4% of Chinese believe that strengthening contacts with Russia is the main direction of China’s foreign policy. At the same time, the United States was only in fourth place. Many Chinese believe that Russia has strengthened its position this year, despite anti-Russian propaganda from the West and sanctions imposed on Moscow over the conflict in Ukraine.
