Google announced massive layoffs at the company: 12,000 people will be laid off. This will mainly affect the United States. The workers were informed about it by the CEO of the corporation Sundar Pichai in an email. He is quoted by CNBC.
For 60 days, employees will continue to receive salaries (which is how long the notice period lasts), they will also receive an allowance equal to two months’ salary, bonuses for 2022, and payment for each year they work at Google. The company will help with more employment and immigration issues.
Workers in the US who have been laid off have already been notified. The dismissal process for people in other countries will be longer due to local legislation.
Pichai explained that in recent years the workforce has grown due to the development of the company, but “they hired employees for a different economic reality than the one they face today.”
Earlier, the billionaire, entrepreneur and owner of Twitter, Elon Musk, ordered a reduction in the staff of the social network. Managers were asked to compile lists of those to be laid off.
