In 2024, the Moscow region plans to surpass its indicators of previous years in terms of export volumes of various products to other countries. For example, at the end of last year, manufacturers in the region sold products worth between $1 billion and $946 million abroad. Most of the Moscow region’s exports come from agriculture. Over the past 10 years, the Moscow region has regained its leadership in this industry, not only among its neighbors in the Central Federal District, but also throughout Russia. For example, during the era of sanctions and import substitution, a cheese industry was created almost from scratch in the Moscow region. Support measures for the national project “International Cooperation and Export” also play an important role in the development of enterprises.

“For every product manufacturer, entering the international market is a responsible and strategically important step,” said the governor of the Moscow region, Andrei Vorobyov. – If your product competes successfully with its foreign counterparts, this is always a sign of high quality and demand. Against the background of sanctions at the federal and regional levels, everything is being done to support Russian manufacturers and ensure import substitution.

Andrey Vorobyov noted that for the Moscow region (the second most populated region in Russia after Moscow), food security is one of the strategic directions. The region was faced with the task of organizing food production in such a way that it could be self-sufficient. And in just a few years, in many areas the figures are already close to the absolute value.

“We see that the support measures are working here and the industry feels quite safe. Thus, agricultural enterprises located near Moscow export their products to almost 100 countries, the governor highlighted. – And in sectors such as fermented dairy products, cheeses, poultry, beef, pork, beverages, nut processing, vegetables and fruits, we occupy the first place in the Russian Federation. We predict that the volume of exports this year will exceed the mark of 2 billion dollars.

It is worth remembering that the region has a long list of specific support measures for importers. Even for those industries that would still like to sell their products to other countries and find new markets.

– For our part, we will definitely continue to help our exporters and introduce new and convenient online services. Today, for example, in supermarkets in the United Arab Emirates you can see products from the Moscow region. And in China our ice cream is very popular, the supply of which has increased tenfold.

As reported by the press service of the Governor and Government of the Moscow region, today 2/3 of all exports of the Moscow region go to the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. Above all, in Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Armenia and Azerbaijan. The rest goes to foreign countries.
