The nominees for the 2023 Brit Awards have been announced. Harry Styles, Stormzy and the band 1975 received three mentions each, Cat Burns, George Ezra, Dave, Sam Smith, Fred Again received two, and the young British band Wet Leg he became a leader, claiming four awards.
As the British media have already pointed out, despite the prize’s declared commitment to equality and the abolition of gender categories, there was not a single woman in the main category “British Artist of the Year”. This title is claimed by Fred Again, George Ezra, Stormzy, rapper Central Cee and Harry Styles.
The International Artist of the Year category includes Beyoncé, Burna Boy, Lizzo, Kendrick Lamar and Taylor Swift. The first winner was also announced: girl group FLO won the rising star award.
The BRIT Awards 2023 will take place on February 11 at the O2 Arena. Sam Smith, Kim Petra and Wet Leg have already been announced. The names of other concert participants and guests will be announced later. British comedian Mo Gilligan will take the stage for the second year in a row.
