HBO Max has not renewed the Gossip Girl remake for a third season. Thus, the episode, which will air on January 26, will be the last. Hypebae writes about it.
So here’s the tidbit: It is with a heavy heart that I have to announce that Gossip Girl will no longer be on HBO Max. I thank the studio for their faith and support, the writers for their sharp minds and talent, the crew for their hard work, dedication and love for the project,” showrunner Joshua Safran tweeted.
Safran added that the series may continue to air on a different platform: “We are currently looking for another home, but in our situation it could be an uphill battle.”
The Gossip Girl reboot premiered in July 2021. The series was a continuation of the original show, which aired from 2007 to 2012. The events of the remake also take place at New York’s elite school “Constance Billard”, but nine years later. Simultaneously with the appearance of a new student Zoya, Gossip Girl returns – an anonymous resource spreading rumors about the life of golden youth.
Recall that the actress Michelle Trachtenberg appeared in the second season of the new Gossip Girl. She played Serena van der Woodsen’s controversial childhood friend Georgina Sparks in the original project. You can see the trailer here.
