Russia’s highest title was posthumously awarded to Almaz Safin for courage and heroism displayed in the performance of military duty.

According to the Kremlin press service, the serviceman has been participating in a special military operation since September 30, 2022. Almaz entered his last battle on January 14, when in the Krasno-Limansky direction the enemy withdrew all available reserves to the Kremennaya area. The Ukrainian Armed Forces tried to break through the defenses of the Russian paratroopers, cut off the supply routes for the troops, and capture Kremennaya.

Our scouts revealed the movement routes of the Ukrainian army and the direction of the main attack. The paratrooper platoon commanded by Sergeant Safin held defensive positions in the area of the expected main enemy attack. The foreman in the shortest possible time organized teams for observation, engineering and fortification of positions, and their defense.

Almaz Safin was the first to detect the advance of the enemy reserves and gave the order to open fire. This made it possible to anticipate the actions of the enemy and attempt a surprise attack.

During the battle, Safin destroyed five servicemen of the Armed Forces of Ukraine with fire from personal weapons. Having failed in a surprise attack, the enemy began firing mortars at the platoon positions.

During the shelling, the foreman received a serious shrapnel wound. However, he did not leave the post, he continued to direct his subordinates and direct aimed fire. The enemy repeatedly tried to dislodge the paratroopers, but met fierce resistance and suffered heavy losses.

After reinforcements closed in on Safin’s platoon, the enemy was forced to withdraw to their original lines. Paratroopers under the command of Sergeant Safin destroyed a tank, two armored vehicles and up to 50 Ukrainian servicemen during the battle. After the battle, Almaz Safin died from his wounds, having completed the assigned combat mission to the end.

The heroic and decisive actions of the foreman, combined with high professionalism and skillful leadership of the personnel, made it possible to prevent the advance of the trained, equipped and numerically superior units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, which suffered significant damage.

Almaz Safin was born on October 4, 1985 in the Alsheevsky district of Bashkiria. He graduated from the Novosibirsk Higher Military Command School. According to the district administration, Almaz Safin left behind a wife and three children.
