“In recent years, the degree of development of computer vision technology has made it possible to use it in practice for mechanical analysis of images of organs and tissues, thus helping the doctor not to miss important disease patterns,” said Ilya Balanin, president of the Federal Fund for Compulsory Medical Insurance, in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.
Starting this year, the compulsory health insurance rate includes the costs of using AI for one type of research: mammography, it continues. Last year, these approaches were tested in Moscow and several other regions, and now this practice is spreading throughout the country.
“The latest scientific and practical research in this field demonstrates that the use of artificial intelligence technologies, whether computer vision, speech recognition and synthesis or others mentioned above, can achieve effective medical, economic or organizational results. Also “They can reduce the burden on the doctor and increase the accuracy of the diagnosis,” explains Ilya Balanin.
It is true that AI in this area has not yet begun to work in all medical institutions in the country, but it has where the infrastructure, equipment and applied medical solutions necessary for this allow it.
