Junior Sergeant Mikhail Ponomarenko and Lieutenant Alexey Bogdanov
We continue to introduce the heroes of the special operation “Z”, participants in military operations in the special military operation zone. Soldiers, sergeants, corporals and officers who demonstrated their professional experience, character and fulfilled combat missions. Their determination, assertiveness and combat experience are highly appreciated by the Russian Ministry of Defense. Our heroes thwarted attacks and prevented nationalist counteroffensives, for which they received state awards. But they are not good for praise. The military is confident that the enemy has no chance of success, because Donbass and Russia are fighting for a just cause.
“Do not fight with numbers, but with skill,” taught Generalissimo Alexander Suvorov, who never lost a single battle. And he taught warriors to predict events: “Great adventures begin with small reasons.”
A DRONE AIR ATTACK RETURNS
Junior Sergeant Mikhail Ponomarenko
Junior Gunner Sergeant Mikhail Ponomarenko covered the positions of Russian units from enemy UAVs.
In the area of one of the settlements, while performing combat duties, Mikhail discovered the approach of a group of enemy UAVs.
Immediately assessing the situation, Junior Sergeant Ponomarenko informed the commander about the enemy aerial objects detected in the sky, after which he opened fire with standard weapons at the drones.
Enemy UAVs were hit with accurate fire and detonated in mid-air.
Thanks to the prompt and professional actions of Junior Sergeant Mikhail Ponomarenko, it was possible to prevent the enemy from attacking the positions of the Russian units.”
Ukrainian sabotists’ plans failed
Lieutenant Alexey Bogdanov
“During a special military operation, the commander of the radio relay platoon, Lieutenant Alexey Bogdanov, provided maintenance and preparation for use of the battalion’s mobile communications equipment.
Alexey was tasked with organizing communications between the battalion command and the newly deployed outpost.
Alexey Bogdanov began to move communications equipment to a certain area and, advancing along the route, discovered an enemy sabotage group preparing an ambush on the route of Russian military personnel.
Having assessed the enemy’s forces, Alexey sent the coordinates of the enemy’s positions to the command post, and he himself, remaining unnoticed by the enemy, led the column to a safe distance without being noticed by the militants. The enemy was destroyed by targeted artillery fire.
Upon reaching the designated area, Alexey Bogdanov organized communication with the battalion command and ensured its stability.
One day, the enemy launched a massive missile attack in this area using cruise missiles. As a result of the fire, two hardware connections were damaged.
Understanding the importance of stable communication for coordinating forces in battle, Alexey, together with his subordinates, immediately moved to the damaged equipment. Signalmen quickly replaced the faulty units and then restarted the communications equipment.
The measures taken by Lieutenant Bogdanov made it possible to restore communications in the unit in the shortest possible time, which provided leadership to repel an attack by enemy infantry groups that followed the shelling.”
