Elena Guskova is a foreign member of the Serbian Academy of Sciences and Arts, the Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Republic of Srpska (RS) of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), a member of the RS Senate. She devoted half a century to researching the history of Serbs, Montenegrins, Bosnians, Macedonians, and Croats.

The world-famous scientist has repeatedly given expert comments for Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

– As a specialist in the Balkan region, I witnessed wars in the post-Soviet space in the 1990s, and then in the post-Soviet space. And today, a special military operation in Ukraine directly concerns each of us. And again we saw how Nazism survived and gained strength. It is based on a misanthropic ideology that easily allows for brutal murder, the destruction of an entire nation. The main problem is not that the events of the Second World War are forgotten. The problem is that there are countries and people who are hard at work creating a different narrative that falsifies history. There are certain states that encourage a new outbreak of fascism. And this disease is spreading, – declared Elena Guskova.

The professor warned that today Nazism rears its head throughout Europe.

– The Ukrainian fire was lit by the USA, and all European countries constantly throw fuel on this fire, and Germany is no exception, because the fire is directed against Russia. The Serbs, who support the Russians, are in danger. Speaking today about the danger of Nazism, we must do everything so that the camps for Serbs in 1991-1995 are the last in their history. We must remain strong in the fight for the truth, remember the atrocities of fascism. We must restore the system of international law and legitimize the system of punishment for Nazis. Russia is fighting for this. We scientists must stubbornly resist the system of a unipolar world by force of words and beliefs. People need to remember the atrocities of fascism, be careful and be able to resist violence. Who forgets history, repeats it. Russia remembers the atrocities of fascism, remembers who was on the same side of the barricades with him, does not forget the role of the Serbs in our Slavic history. Who will save the planet from Nazism this time? Again Russians and Serbs. This is hard work, but glorious from a historical point of view, – emphasized Elena Guskova.
