How to know if you have been granted the new aid of 200 euros from the Government

Date: March 27, 2023 Time: 10:45:19

Since the deadline to request the 200-euro check for the purchase of food opened on February 15, there have been thousands of requests received by the Tax Agency, which is in charge of managing this social benefit. Until next March 31, taxpayers will be able to request the aid that the Government of Spain will face on December 27, 2022, with the aim of dealing with high inflation and protecting the most vulnerable sectors of the population. And perhaps taxpayers may now be wondering how to find out if they have been granted this extraordinary credit, and what to do if they are denied.

The Executive expects the check to reach about 4.2 million households, in order to reduce situations of economic vulnerability that are not combated with other benefits. Thus, only wage-earners, self-employed or unemployed registered in employment offices who do not receive other subsidies, such as the Minimum Vital Income or pension, can improve.

In addition, the Public Treasury established several requirements that applicants must meet in order to receive the aid of 200 euros, one of which is having the main habitual residence in Spain, having received full income of less than 27,000 euros per year and having a net worth of euros. In this case, the habitual residence is excluded from the computation of assets. And, to calculate the income and assets, those of family members who live at the same address will be added -the applicant, their spouse or common-law partner, descendants and ascendants up to the second degree-, leaving aside those of the people who share floor without having a family relationship.

So you can know if you have approved the check for 200 euros

The Tax Agency is in charge of managing the aid of 200 euros, so the application must be processed through its Electric Headquarters. Although, when the term opened on February 15, the website presented some errors for a few hours, this seems to be fixed.

The first step is to fill out a form that must be accessed with the cl@ve or electronic certificate, and in which the number of the bank account in which you want to receive the transfer must be indicated. Next, the Tax Agency will cross-check the data with those of other administrations to determine whether or not the applicant is entitled to receive the benefit. If this is not the case, he will receive a notification and will have a period of ten days to make a claim. In the event that you do not present allegations, documents or supporting documents in a month, your request is understood to have been denied.

However, the absence of an immediate response should not be considered as a denial of assistance. This is due to the fact that the application period ends on March 31 and payment management will be carried out in order of entry.

How long does it take for the income to arrive

The beneficiaries will receive the check for 200 euros by bank transfer, but they will have to wait for it. To carry out the income, the Tax Agency gives a period of three months, which starts counting from March 31, 2023, when the period to submit the form ends. That is why June 30 of this year has been set as the deadline and, finally, some will not have the money until the summer, although it is possible that many will receive it in just a few weeks.

It must be taken into account that, if the applicant does not meet the requirements to receive the subscription, they will be notified of a negative resolution proposal. If this was not received three months after the deadline for submitting the form came to an end, nor has the check been cashed, the application will be considered rejected.

Can the Treasury ship the aid?

Another issue to which special attention must be paid is that the Treasury reserves the right to withdraw the check for 200 euros. Even if the Tax Agency approves the granting of the aid, it can be withdrawn if the beneficiary has debts with Social Security or the Public Employment Service (SEPE), or has exhausted the settlement times.

When this occurs, the import is retained for ‘seizure proceedings’, that is, the tax authorities freeze the money when it reaches the account and cannot be used.
