The 29th Golden Mask Theater Festival opened at the Taganka Theater. The festival began with a three-day performance of Lev Dodin’s The Seagull, which is part of the repertoire of the Theater of Europe in Saint Petersburg. The production, based on the play of the same name by Anton Pavlovich Chekhov, starring Elizaveta Boyarskaya, Igor Chernevich and Sergei Kuryshev, was first presented to the public in October last year.
Recall that the season’s festival lineup contains 66 productions of Russian theaters from 25 cities. And the names of the award winners will traditionally be determined by the decision of the jury and announced at the award ceremony, which will take place on April 22 at the Musical Theater.
