Over the years of her career, Anastasia Volochkova has earned a considerable fortune. Judging by official data, until recently the following were registered for the ballerina: a 200-square-meter apartment in St. Petersburg (56.8 million rubles), an apartment in Moscow (111.8 million rubles), a country house in the Krasnogorsk district of Moscow (the artist is valued at 12 million dollars, i.e. more than a billion rubles) and 22 (!) apartments in the Astrakhan region. The latter are investments in the business project of Volochkova’s ex-husband, businessman Igor Vdovin.
Total: one country house and 24 apartments. All this property is estimated at about 1.5 billion rubles. Needless to say, Anastasia is an enviable bride!
However, as the artist herself said in an exclusive conversation with KP, she was recently forced to sell apartments in Astrakhan in order to return at least part of the money owed to her by her ex-husband.
“A receipt is just a piece of paper”
– I gave my ex all my money – 3.5 million dollars (305 billion rubles at the current exchange rate. – Ed.). I had to withdraw it from the bank, losing all the accrued interest, since the money was deposited on deposits, the ballerina told KP. – He swore that he would keep this amount for a year. He said that the money would go to the construction business that he started with his partner in Astrakhan. I had no intention of becoming some kind of investor in construction… Vdovin simply took my money at 30 percent per annum.
But a year later he didn’t pay the debt and I got worried. I asked Igor to write a receipt. He wrote. But when, a few years later, I showed this letter to Igor, he laughed: “Nastya, I don’t owe you anything at all. This receipt is not legally confirmed. It’s just a piece of paper.” And all these years he managed my money himself. I filed lawsuits, tried to get my savings back, but every time Vdovin begged me to take them away from him. I followed his example, because he is the father of my only daughter, and withdrew the claims.
When Vdovin did not return my money a year later, I told him: “Give me at least this ‘air’ for now – apartments in Astrakhan.” And he gave me 22 unfinished apartments. Construction began in 2009, and only in 2019 the house was put into operation. I had to take possession of these apartments so as not to be completely left behind. And… pay for them. Can you imagine how much money came in a month – taxes, utilities… And I was forced to sell them?
But I still haven’t gotten my money back. Vdovin took $3.5 million from me, and I was able to sell the apartments for only $1 million (87.1 million rubles – Ed.). One dollar was worth 25 rubles back then, but now it’s worth less than a hundred. I got three times less than I gave…
“The daughter decides where she should live”
– They say that the housing issue has caused a fight between you and your daughter…
– I have a great relationship with Arisha. My daughter and I never fought. The relationship was difficult at times. I am happy that my daughter bears my last name, she is a very talented person. She lives in the city center, in her father’s apartment, but she comes to see me often. My daughter moved in with her father a few years ago. From there it was easier for her to get to high school.
She is a very responsible and intelligent girl. Over the past four years, my daughter has taught herself French. Arisha now teaches English and French. She paints films and also works in a film studio – she dubs films at a professional level. Well, and most importantly, she studies at the Higher School of Economics at the Faculty of Philology and organizes literary evenings. She wrote more than 250 poems – in English, French and Russian. As a mother, I did everything for Arisha. From the age of two, my daughter studied at schools of creative development, danced with Alla Dukhova in Todes, and mastered ballroom dancing with Stanislav Popov. She studied at a music school and played tennis. Arisha is a very versatile person and I tried to provide her with teachers of the highest level.
Arisha is already an adult, she has her own life. When evil aunts write to me: they say that Volochkova abandoned her son, kicked her daughter out of the house, I laugh. Good people, my daughter will be 19 in September! She decides for herself where it is best for her to live. And when she comes, we are simply inseparable. We organize family literary evenings, we read poetry to each other. Arisha often comes with her loved one. Sometimes my daughter and her close friend spend the night with me, but not in Arisha’s 70-meter-long children’s room, but in the guest bedroom. This is my daughter’s wish. The girl makes it clear that she is not a child, she has grown up a long time ago. My daughter and I feel good, she knows that you can share any secret with your mother and ask her for advice.
Even though I have a difficult relationship with her father, I can forgive insults. I am grateful to Igor for being responsible for her for four years and paying for her education. My daughter lives in excellent conditions and, what is important for me, she is spiritually prosperous. I see that she loves me and I love her very much. Yes, Arisha lives with another family, but she feels comfortable there. She recently traveled to Montenegro with her father and his family. Arisha is friends with her brothers and sisters on her father’s side, everything is going great with them.
I remember myself at Arisha’s age: at 18 I was already a prima ballerina and I gave my mother and father an apartment. But don’t count my money, my gold. What I have, I earned myself.
BY THE WAY
The new program cost a lot of money.
In addition to Anastasia Volochkova’s splits, her new show “Obsession” is also actively discussed on social networks. The artist does not hide that she spent tens of millions of rubles on a technological performance:
Anastasia calls the work “Obsession” her lifelong dream. Photo: Anastasia Volochkova’s personal page on social networks.
– My show is very expensive, it is my lifelong dream, into which I have invested a lot of effort. This is the story of a girl who wanted to be a ballerina and became one, but she didn’t know at what price she would achieve it. Through lies and betrayal she faced. But at the end of the performance I emerge victorious, wearing a Russian crown and holding a Russian flag. It is a great happiness for me to be a Russian ballerina. This show is my whole life.
All of this is expensive, of course. I had to pay the choreographer, the director… My costumes also cost a fabulous amount – they were made for me by St. Petersburg artist Vladimir Kozyrev, with whom I have been working for more than 27 years. I still needed to dress the corps de ballet. As well as lighting solutions, video content. In general, the show cost me about 30 million rubles. But I decided to donate it to charity anyway. I still invite everyone to my performance completely free of charge.
