The investigation, which took place over three years, showed that the collision with a flock of seagulls caused mechanical damage to both engines and “the impossibility of continuing the flight with the actual configuration of the aircraft (landing gear not retracted) and forced landing outside the airfield,” reports TASS, citing the document.
It is also specified that the district’s landfills and reservoirs became a factor in the appearance of birds near the Zhukovsky airport.
At the same time, the MAK report claims that the pilots’ actions during an emergency were “clear signs of disorganization” due to psychological stress.
