Yarwood, whose full name is Michael Edward, reached his peak of fame in the 1960s and 1980s.
Debuting on screens in the second half of the 1960s, Yarwood starred in dozens of television series, programs and movies. His parody works are also well known: he was especially successful with Peter Falk, known for his role as Columbo, the British television presenter Magnus Pike and several politicians.
The death of the 82-year-old artist is reported in particular by the Manchester Evening News. The obituary noted that Yarwood held the all-time record for island television: his signature show in 1977 attracted almost 21.5 million viewers.
There are numerous condolences from colleagues on social networks.
Yarwood was born in Cheshire. He was married to the dancer Sandra Burvill, with whom he had two daughters.
