The Ford Explorer, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Subaru Ascent, and Tesla Model Y received the highest rating of “Good” (corresponding to the green marker). Additionally, the electric Mustang and Tesla generated the fewest safety questions under the new rules.
No one received the “Acceptable” rating (yellow marker), the status “Marginal” (orange marker) was given to Chevrolet Traverse, Toyota Highlander, Volkswagen Atlas.
The worst in terms of rear passenger safety IIHS named Honda Pilot, Hyundai Palisade, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler 4-door, Mazda CX-9 and Nissan Murano – these models were rated “Poor” (red marker).
