According to court documents, a man born in 1982 found on the Internet representatives of a volunteer military unit, whose members recruited and organized the departure of Russian citizens to Ukraine to participate in hostilities against the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

However, on August 8, he was identified and taken aboard a border guard ship near the town of Olenevka in the Black Sea region of Crimea.

By the way, this was his second attempt to get to Ukraine. The first, from the Bryansk region, was also unsuccessful.

The court classified the defendant’s actions under the articles “preparation for a crime and attempted crime”, “high treason” and “illegal border crossing”.

– According to the totality of the crimes, by absorbing a less severe penalty for a more severe one, he was sentenced to a final sentence of 6 years in prison with serving a sentence in a penal colony with a strict regime, – reported the Supreme Court .

Also, the man was sentenced to an additional punishment in the form of restriction of liberty for one year after serving the prison sentence. The verdict has not yet entered into force.
