Recall that on Thursday, a Russian died from the bites of a tiger shark in the Red Sea off the coast of Hurghada.

“As a result of the observations of the situation at sea carried out over the past two days, no abnormal phenomena have been recorded,” the agency said in a statement from the administration of the Red Sea province.

In this sense, the authorities recommend “gradually resuming swimming in the sea and water sports on the beaches of El Gouna and Hurghada, with the exception of the area where a shark attack on a person was recorded.” The message states that access to the area will be closed during the “review of the system to ensure and comply with security standards.”

As previously reported, in July 2022, two fatal attacks took place in Hurghada within a few days, resulting in the death of an Austrian and a Romanian tourist. In 2018, a Czech tourist was killed by a shark on a Red Sea beach.

Similarly, a German tourist was killed in 2015. In 2010, five attacks in five days, unusually close to the coast of the Sharm el-Sheikh tourist hotspot, killed a German and injured four more foreign tourists.
