road to the lighthouse
In the village of Zalivino in the east of the Kaliningrad region, after restoration, a lighthouse built in 1908 was opened. For more than a hundred years, it has never been repaired and almost completely fell into disrepair. In 2020, the lighthouse was handed over to the World Ocean Museum, which put it in order and turned it into a tourist attraction.

We receive money for repairs from the federal center through a grant, as well as thanks to sponsorship.
As a result, in more than two years, the builders reinforced the lighthouse tower, removed numerous holes in the brickwork, sealed the seams, restored the historic steps leading to the keeper’s house and the northern extension. Nor did they forget the environment, which was cleared of rushes and tall nettles, filled in and equipped with trails with a mini walk.
“Now the lighthouse will be able to stand for more than a dozen, maybe even a hundred years. Now we want to create an expeditionary scientific base on the territory of the lighthouse complex, which will help us to study the ecology of the Curonian Lagoon, ”, said Svetlana Sivkova, director general of the World Ocean Museum.
For adult tourists, a ticket for a five-hour tour will cost 1,200 rubles. During this time, they will learn a lot of interesting things about the history and nature of the amber region, about the life of lighthouse keepers and the lighthouse business in Russia. And yet they will see the Curonian Lagoon from above.
The collection, according to the direction of the museum, will be used to maintain the lighthouse.
