The fire in the center occurred in October of the year before. As the fire was extinguished, the bodies of three people were found at the scene. Initially, the Investigative Committee of the Kaliningrad region opened a criminal case under the article “Provision of services that do not meet security requirements.” Subsequently, the article was reclassified to a less serious one, the woman was finally tried for violating fire safety requirements.
The court took into account the identity of the defendant. She has been involved in social activities for many years, helping many people to get rid of addiction. Relatives of the victims also in judicial hearings asked to mitigate the sentence of the woman, since the same people asked to spend the night in the center and the woman let them enter.
At the same time, the director of the center herself knew very well that the center needed a comprehensive overhaul. But she initially accepted the building in poor condition and she did not have the resources to repair it quickly.
