According to Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko, the shelling took place in the Pechersky and Goloseevsky districts, in the central and western parts of the city. During the first series of attacks, ten explosions were heard. Klitschko said that the airstrike on Kyiv had already been stopped.
Several Ukrainian regions preemptively cut power ahead of missile strikes after an airstrike alert was issued at lunchtime. Klitschko said that 30 percent of Kyiv had no electricity. Other areas attacked include the cities of Khmelnitsky and Zaporozhye, as well as the Kharkiv region, according to the Kyiv Independent.
“In connection with the threat of a rocket attack, Ukrenergo is taking measures to temporarily limit the supply of electricity. This is necessary to reduce the load on the energy system in the event of an attack on our infrastructure,” said Maxim Marchenko, Governor of the Odessa Region, wrote on Telegram.
