As specified by the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Moldova, the dead children were 6, 10, 11 and 13 years old.
Recall that the tragedy occurred on Sunday on the Saransk-Surskoe-Ulyanovsk highway. A mother with children was driving a Lada Largus car in the direction of Saransk. According to the Investigative Committee, near the village of Bolshie Remezenki, a woman lost control of her as she overtook her. The car entered the oncoming lane and collided with a Mercedes Aktros truck.
The woman and children were killed. The truck driver was taken to the hospital.
A criminal case was initiated under part 5 of article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (violation of traffic rules, which resulted in the death of two or more people due to negligence).
The regional Investigative Committee initiated the issue of transferring the criminal case from the police to the Chamzinsky Interdistrict Investigative Department of the Investigative Committee of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation for the Republic of Moldova.
The head of Mordovia, Artem Zdunov, reacted to the resounding tragedy. He assured that the relatives of the victims will receive assistance. In addition, all the causes of the fatal accident will be analyzed, including the state of the road.
The Mordovian Prosecutor’s Office reported that in view of the fact of an accident with the death of children, the department began to verify compliance with road safety legislation.
