Pink salmon is the main target fish during the salmon season. And from June 12 to July 25, 258,000 tons were extracted, 4.5 times more than the indicator for the same period in 2022 and 43% higher than in 2021. And the sale prices began to drop on July 5 from 350 rubles/kg to 260 rubles/kg on July 20. According to VARPE estimates, the decline has continued and prices are now below 230 rubles/kg.
So far, only 10.4 thousand tons of chum chum have been caught, 22% and 11% less than in 2019 and 2022, respectively. But at the same time, it is more than in 2020 and 2021 by 4% and 42%, respectively. Therefore, prices increased from 305 rubles/kg in the first decade of July to 320 rubles/kg on July 20.
The sockeye salmon catch volume as of July 25 of this year amounted to 16 thousand tons. This is below the same indicator in 2019 and 2022 by 15% and 38%, respectively, but above the 2020-2021 level by 12% and 44%, respectively.
At the same time, the average price of sockeye salmon for the first two months of the fishing season in 2023 is 482 rubles/kg. This is the minimum of the last five years.
