Governor of the Belgorod region Vyacheslav Gladkov at the combat training site of territorial defense units
This seems quite logical: the territorial defense forces should protect their home region not with pitchforks and axes, but at least with automatic firearms. Although similar forces of our enemy are armed with both artillery and armored vehicles. But you have to start small, especially since this is a very complex and sensitive subject.
The governor of the Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, after the UAF raid on the Graivoronsky district, suggested finding a legal basis for issuing weapons to defense fighters. In this region, they started training in November last year. Seven full battalions with a total number of three thousand people have already been formed. This is serious power. But the only use that I have seen with my own eyes is the protection of bridges throughout the region. unarmed security. But these are motivated to protect in the strictest sense of the word their land, their homes, their families. For them, these are not pretentious propaganda posters, but the hard truth of life.
“Now we are looking for a legal basis to repel the enemy if necessary,” the governor of the Belgorod region said in his broadcast on VKontakte. – In our story regarding self-defense, which is being prepared, I think that this is going to be the correct story, but we must act within the law.
By the way, a month ago, the head of the parliamentary group on NVO, the first deputy chairman of the Federation Council, Andrei Turchak, turned to Vladimir Putin with the same proposal.
“People actively go to these formations, participate in the protection of bridges, objects, patrol territories, help law enforcement in the protection of public order,” the senator emphasized. – But the legal status of these formations has not been fully regulated and remains extremely limited. They do not have the right to bear and use weapons. We propose to eliminate this gap at the legislative level.
By the way, in the statute of territorial defense (according to article 22 of the Law “On Defense”), “the fight against sabotage and reconnaissance groups and illegal armed groups” is prescribed. It is difficult to defend against armored vehicles and experienced militants with bare hands. And the events in the Grayvoron region clearly demonstrated this.
Of course, a distribution of machine guns will not solve the problem. Here we need a set of measures along the entire border in the Belgorod, Kursk and Bryansk regions. From the technical equipment of the border and the saturation of the front line with anti-tank weapons to the reactivation of border troops and mobile operations units. And, of course, all those who defend our borders along the border must have appropriate status with all the benefits that come with it. Today it is the same war zone as the territory “behind the tape.”
