The National Payment Card System is preparing to launch a new payment method with Mir cards through smartphones. The newspaper Izvestia writes about this, at the disposal of which a technical bulletin on this method fell.
We are talking about payment using a QR code. It will be generated in the banking application of the buyer’s smartphone. The vendors at the checkout are supposed to be armed with a special scanner to read it.
NSPK has developed a protection system for a new payment method: transactions will be tokenized, that is, they will not contain card data, but a link to them. The corresponding requirement for banks will take effect on April 25.
It is noted that the card details must be tokenized so that fraudsters cannot use the payment information. Others can see a QR code from a smartphone screen, you can move on to the cameras; Without additional data protection, attackers will be able to recognize and “pull” the card number from the code, and then use it.
