According to investigators, the hospital employees colluded and stole more than 2.5 million rubles in three years. The money came from the federal budget for the salaries of workers hired to maintain and repair the hospital’s administrative buildings. However, these people were “dead souls” and existed only on paper.
“The crime was uncovered by officers of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Chelyabinsk region, who provide operational support in the criminal case,” the Investigative Committee said.
All suspects worked at the Chelyabinsk Regional Clinical Center of Oncology and Nuclear Medicine, the regional FSB department confirmed to RIA Novosti. The hospital was searched.
According to the court ruling, the chief physician and his colleague were detained until 6 October. The third defendant was banned from carrying out “certain activities” for two months.
