“Today, while they were standing, when they read the akathist to the Archangel Michael, we were told that the icon of Demetrius of Thessaloniki is pouring out myrrh,” the believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church said.
In a video posted on the Lavra’s Telegram channel, the women hold a small icon in their hands and show the world, barely visible to the eye of a phone camera. During the filming, believers approach the icon to venerate it. The assembled parishioners note that a delicate smell emanates from the icon – a fragrance. “The smell is already coming here,” comments a male voice.
Believers said that the icon of the Great Martyr Demetrius of Thessaloniki is a shrine that was donated by the ruling bishop in Thessaloniki. “They gave us an icon, myrrh, this icon accompanies us everywhere, on all trips, in all religious processions with children.”
