It was learned that the scammer called the woman on the phone, introduced himself as a law enforcement officer and convinced her to apply for loans in his name at several banks. The victim received a total of more than 1.7 million rubles and handed them over to the scammers.
A forensic psychological and psychiatric examination showed that upon concluding the loan agreements, the elderly woman could not understand the nature and meaning of the actions taken against her. She couldn’t resist them either. The decision to apply for loans was made by the victim of telephone scammers under the influence of deception due to an erroneous perception of the situation, the experts concluded.
In this regard, the Vyborg prosecutor sent a statement of claim to the court to invalidate the loan agreement concluded by the pensioner with one of the banks.
The execution of the court decision was supervised by the regional prosecutor’s office. The courts of the Leningrad region are considering another 47 similar claims. All of them are based on psychological and psychiatric examinations carried out on injured pensioners.
