In December last year, Mamontov was released from criminal liability in connection with the reconciliation of the parties – the deputy paid large monetary compensation to the mother of the injured child. The prosecution considered that this was not enough and the former deputy should face a criminal sanction. The Tatarsky District Court agreed to send the case for a new trial.
“The criminal case against Mamontov was sent to the president of the Tatarsky District Court of the Novosibirsk Region to resolve the issue of the change of jurisdiction and transfer the criminal case to another justice of the peace,” the court said in a statement.
As RG previously wrote, on October 30, 2022, a 67-year-old officer in a foreign car struck a six-year-old boy in the courtyard of an apartment building. The man got out of the car and after a while left the place without helping the child. Witnesses called the police and an ambulance. The victim was taken to a regional hospital and then transferred to Novosibirsk for treatment.
The suspect’s car was put on the wanted list. Some time later, the deputy himself appeared at the police department and confessed to the fact to him. He was charged under article 125 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation “Knowingly leaving without assistance a person in a state of danger to life and health.” The court removed the person concerned from the post of head of the Tatar branch of Novosibirskavtodor, which Mamontov had been in charge of for more than 20 years. “United Russia”, in which the man was, deprived him of his party card and expelled him from the association of deputies in the district council.
