“Currently the citizen has already been accused. He has fully admitted his guilt. The necessary procedural and investigative steps are being carried out,” the regional police press service said.
The investigation establishes the circumstances of the accident, as well as the reasons that contributed to it. Under part 5 of article 264 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, the driver faces up to seven years in prison.
As previously reported, an accident occurred on August 23 in the Predgorny district of the Stavropol Territory on the Pyatigorsk Ring Road. The GAZelle collided with a group of cyclists from a local sports school who were training. Three of them, children ages 11, 12 and 13, died. A criminal case was also opened against the coach who accompanied them.
