The “Alley of Russian Rulers” opened in 2017 in Moscow. But now they decided to move this exhibition and the choice of location was not accidental. It was in the former estate “Boldino” that the outstanding historian and statesman Vasily Nikitich Tatishchev created the “History of Russia” and the “Collection of Laws of the Ancient Russians.” A secluded place in the Moscow region, which has great historical significance, reminds of the continuity of generations and an inextricable connection with the past.
On October 1, the grand opening of the “Alley of Russian Rulers” took place.
At the entrance to the Boldino complex there are stands: here are photographs of the opening of the first alley in Moscow, a visualized plan for the reconstruction of an architectural monument and a list of Russian rulers with the years of their lives.
As soon as you move forward a little, a sculptural composition by Zurab Tsereteli (43 busts) will open before you. Personalities who led our country for more than a thousand years of history. Under the autumn light, the life-size bronze busts take on a special grandeur.
Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky and Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov arrived early in the morning for the grand opening of the sculpture complex. The event was also attended by Deputy Governor of the Sverdlovsk Region Alexei Orlov.
“This is the only place in the country where all the rulers of our state are represented: from the legendary Rurik to Boris Yeltsin. We do not miss anyone, because history is a continuous process,” said Vladimir Medinsky, assistant to the President of the Russian Federation.
After the official speech, guests went to the monument to Vasily Tatishchev (installed in November 2023) to lay flowers as a sign of respect for the outstanding statesman.
Interestingly, next to the monument there is a library on the street. These are translucent wooden shelves that contain books from the “Gatherers of the Russian Land” series. It’s easy to meet visitors’ favorite rulers: works on Peter the Great, Catherine II and Paul I are the quickest to arrive. There is a lot of enthusiasm, so everyone can buy their favorite book in the Dostoevsky store.
The opening of the “Alley of Russian Rulers” and the reconstruction work on the Boldino estate contribute to the creation of a new historical and tourist route.
“We want there to be a popular and modern place in the Moscow region that has a great history,” said Russian presidential aide Vladimir Medinsky.
It is expected that in the coming years the Tatishchev estate will undergo significant changes.
“On an area of 130 hectares, a complete infrastructure will be developed for visiting the architectural complex, studying history, creativity and sports,” said Moscow Region Governor Andrei Vorobyov.
