As one of the visitors told reporters, the collector tapped a small glass figurine with her finger, as if trying to check whether it was made of real balloons. After that, the valuable statuette was tipped over and shattered.

Some visitors to the exhibition reportedly mistook what happened for a performance.

Benedikt Kaluh, an employee at the Bel-Air Fine Art gallery that provided the sculpture, said the woman accidentally broke it and insurance will cover the cost of the lost artwork.

Jeff Koons is a well-known artist and sculptor, one of the most expensive authors of contemporary art. His work “Rabbit” fetched a record price of $91 million at auction. The sculptures in the “Balloon Dogs” series come in various sizes, from 30 centimeters to three meters tall.
