Yesim Demir and her future husband Nizamettin Gursu were to celebrate the important event with a sunset picnic at Cape Polente in Canakkale. According to the Turkish Newsflash agency, the man went to the car to pick up food and drinks and at that moment he heard her girlfriend crying: the girl fell from a height of more than 30 meters.
The arriving ambulance assisted the woman for 45 minutes, but she died of her injuries.
Gursu later told local media that the couple had chosen a romantic location for their engagement. Many people used to go here to watch the sunset. “However, the roads are very bad and there are no precautions on the edge of the cliff. A fence must be put up here, precautions must be taken,” said one of the locals. The cliff was closed following the tragedy during the investigation.
