The industrial accident occurred in early July. A forty-year-old resident of the Saratov region was working at a construction site in Volgograd. While unloading metal structures during the construction of an overpass in the area of the Gornopolyansky junction, a man received an electric shock. He grabbed the cable that was taut.
The victim was first transferred to the intensive care unit of Clinical Hospital No. 7. He was later transferred to Hospital No. 25 with numerous burns.
His condition was extremely serious. The patient received an electric shock of approximately 27 thousand volts: the arc passed through his head, internal organs and exited through his legs. Usually, such injuries are not compatible with life.
The examination showed damage to the heart, kidneys, lungs and liver. The lower limbs were burned. The Saratov resident was saved by the teams of combustion and resuscitation specialists.
For 40 days he underwent several complex operations, including plastic surgery. Surgeons managed to restore the affected soft tissues of the abdomen, tendons and feet. Only his big toes had to be amputated.
The worker’s life is now not in danger. He was discharged home. The patient can walk and plans to return to work soon.
