As established by the investigation, the crime occurred around one in the morning on October 15, 2022. That night, a 40-year-old taxi driver was in the yard of house number 61 on Opolchenskaya Street in Volgograd. At that time, an unknown 35-year-old woman approached him near the entrance and asked him for a ride for a fee.
“While driving, the man developed a personal grudge against the female passenger and a criminal attempt to kill her,” the report says.
The taxi driver took his victim to the P-228 Volgograd-Saratov-Syzran highway. At kilometer 648-649, he and the victim got out of the car and hit the woman in the head several times. The killer then strangled the passenger with the hood of her jacket. The taxi driver robbed the victim of him, taking gold jewelry worth 110 thousand rubles from her. He kept the stolen valuables in the garage.
The court found the man guilty of committing crimes provided for in the first part of Article 105 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (murder), paragraph “c” of the second part of Article 158 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (robbery that causes significant harm to a citizen). The condemned man admitted his guilt and repented.
