The national tourist route “Pearls of the North of Russia” has officially appeared in the Vologda region. This is the first project in the region to receive such status and be approved by federal experts.
The projects are selected by the expert council created within the framework of the Federal Tourism Agency. Marketers, brandologists and promotion specialists also participate in its activities. Together they analyze the route presented, from the classification of hotels to the specific programs offered to guests. The focus is on actual sales and their economic efficiency.
“We offer a two-day tour of the ‘Pearl of the North of Russia’ to Vologda and Kirillov, in which guests can learn about our lace, get acquainted with wooden architecture, try to make real Vologda oil with their own hands “, he commented. Anton Koltsov, First Deputy Governor, Chairman of the Government of the Vologda Region.
Tourists will be able to visit the Semenkovo Architectural and Ethnographic Museum and the Museum of Dionysus Frescoes in the village of Ferapontovo. Semenkovo covers an area of 12.7 hectares. On the territory of the museum there are monuments of wooden architecture of the mid-19th and early 20th centuries. These are historic houses, a cemetery and an agricultural complex.
New exhibits are constantly being offered here. Last year, a night shelter was opened in the Khrapovs’ home. The fact is that rural children in the 19th century were not particularly willing to attend school if they lived three miles away. They had to walk home after class. And it’s not easy. Therefore, in schools they organized a guest house, so that children could sometimes spend the night in them. They were equipped with peasant donations. After the lessons, the teachers taught the boys carpentry and the girls sewing. The life of such a guest house was recreated in Semenkovo.
And in the village of Ferapontovo, there is the Dionysus Museum of Frescoes, the only murals that have survived to this day. The Cathedral of the Nativity of the Virgin was painted by the famous icon painter Dionysus and his sons. He created frescoes in 34 days in the form of iconostasis and murals for the cathedral. It happened in 1502 from August 6 to September 8. The exact date is known from the remaining inscription. The frescoes are included in the list of UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
So now these amazing museums can be seen as part of the national tourist route. Routes that have received national status will be supported at the federal level. And tourism industry representatives and investors will be able to count on priority consideration for their applications in grant competitions.
Russia’s large tour operators will participate in the promotion and sale of routes through their agent networks.
