Industry sets a date for the second of the calls for the new PERTE VEC

Date: April 19, 2024 Time: 18:56:48

The Minister of Industry, Commerce and Tourism, Reyes Maroto, has set the date to issue the calls for the second European line of PERTE projects for the Electric and Connected Vehicle (VEC). She stated that it will be between March and May and it will be a more flexible plan to allow a company with small solo projects to present.

In an interview with Efe during the economic forum held within the framework of the Rabat High-Level Meeting (RAN), Maroto affirms that these are the deadlines that his department is working on for the second line of projects, since they want them to be executed before end of year

The minister explained that much progress has been made in the proposal made to the European Commission to extend the execution deadlines for this line until 2028, which would mean about three more years compared to the current deadline, in which there is time to execute the investments until July of 2025.

“The negotiations are going very well, we have made a sensible proposal from the point of view of not losing investment and the ability to take advantage of European funds, and right now we have a closer horizon: 2028,” he says.

In the new call, he adds, there will be new features and it has been possible to reduce the guarantees required of companies to meet “in an easier and more flexible way the requirements of the line”, which according to Maroto benefits SMEs above all.

The flexibility of the new line will allow, says the minister, that “companies with small projects without the need to go in a business group” can be presented, as required in the first line. “The objective of the Government is to close this project with the best results, it canceled one hundred percent of the resources that we made available,” she concludes. In the first call for PERTE, only about 800 million of the almost 3,000 million that it has in endowment were awarded.
