On Tuesday, in the second leg of the Champions League semifinals, Inter hosted Milan. In the first meeting, which took place in the same stadium six days ago, the Inter players achieved an unexpectedly confident victory, scoring two unanswered goals in the first half.
However, Inter’s mentor Simone Inzaghi was sure before the match that it was necessary to play, forgetting about the score of the first match.
– This is one of the most important games in the history of Inter. We must play with a clear mind and a warm heart to realize our dream and reach the final. We won 2-0 in the first leg but Milan is still a formidable rival with great players, he said at a press conference.
Milan coach Stefano Pioli has explained how his team can reach the final.
– We need to show a balanced game, act compactly, play as a team that is capable of taking over. We understand how important the first goal will be, but it doesn’t matter when it is scored. We only have one chance and we need to play this game with a great attitude,” he said.
Start of the meeting left to play away “Milan”. And Pioli’s men could have scored such an important first goal in this game in the 12th minute. Brahim Díaz received a pass in the center of the penalty area and finished off on goal. But the blow of the player “Milan” frankly did not work – goalkeeper Andre Onana caught the ball without much effort.
Moving forward, the teams continued to play at high speed, but the next real scoring opportunity came on 38 minutes. Rafael Leau shot dangerously into the far corner, but lacked accuracy.
The “Nerazzurri” responded to this with two dangerous moments. Edin Dzeko hit his head, but Milan goalkeeper Mick Meignan saved his teammates. Lautaro Martínez threatened behind the gates of the guests, but the Argentine forward’s shot was not accurate enough.
And in the 44th minute, Inter had to make a forced substitution. Due to injury, Armenian midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan left the field, replaced by Marcelo Brozovic.

After the break, “Milan” resumed their attempts to hit the gates of “Inter”. But the opponent competently defended, not allowing to hit on goal from advantageous positions.
And in minute 74 the scoring was opened. “Milan” failed in the penalty area, perhaps the most active player of the match, Martinez, who accurately shot into the near corner, and Menyan could not help with a partner.
Inter advanced to the final where they will face the winner of the Bayern-Manchester City duel on Wednesday. The first game in Munich ended in a draw – 1:1.
