Farzin explained that the agreement implies the unification of the Financial Messaging System (SPFS) of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and SEPAM (Electronic Payment Messaging System) of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic.

“A direct connection has been established between the banks of Iran and Russia. According to the agreement on joint activities of the central banks of Iran and Russia, in addition to the direct connection with Russian banks, Iran’s banking network will be directly connected with 106 foreign banks not -Russian banks”, Farzin commented on the agreement on his Twitter (the social network is blocked in RF).

Remember that after Moscow launched a special military operation in the Ukraine, the big Russian banks were disconnected from the SWIFT international banking system. However, Iran suffered “financial isolation” in 2018.
